May 21. Insights at the Atrium: New York Philharmonic Very Young Composers. Bill will join Very Young Composer's (VYC) founder Jon Deak for a special event at the David Rubenstein Atrium on Broadway focused on this unique program. It will feature performances of works by 3 very young composers as well as audience participation in a series of activities led by teaching artist and percussionist Justin Hines. Bill will narrate and lead an interactive composing event within the presentation of An Instrument Village Adventure: New Sounds in Town. VYCer Vivian Graham has composer a piece entitled No Walls about a day in Instrument Village when some new sounds come into town and how the instruments find new music. Artemy Mukhin, another VYC composer has created a piece about nighttime in the village. The audience will get to offer their own ideas for new sounds for the third piece in this adventure. There will also be a new work by VYCer Isai Rabiu. The pieces will be played by a quartet including Trombone, Flute, Clarinet and Percussion. The players include NY Philharmonic musicians and others who work with the program. This is a New York Philharmonic event at 7:30 on Tuesday, May 21 at the David Rubenstein Atrium (Broadway = 61 West 62nd Street). One hour. FREE
